An
art that goes far beyond in the past. It is a true form of folklore art
that has come to existance from the carefree sheperds of the long forgotten
country, who crafted household items, Saints' talismans for their children,
ornamentations. These were crafted with almost no use of tools but with
much patience and desire.
In
the following pages you can take a glimpse of some woodcarved items-the
theme is greek- out of a big variaty that I own. These are crafted on wood
from greek forests, used especially for this kind of work. You can also
take a look of the famous crowncases, where the newlyweds place the crowns
after their wedding. It is an old custom that is still maintained by the
majority of Greek people. |
