Athens Metro Map

This map comes from the Athens Transportation Map that you can usually find at the airport when you arrive. In fact they have a bunch of different maps (unless they have run out of money and can't print them). Try to find one if you can. Most hotels will have maps that include the metro. If you click on it you should be able to see it full size.

Athens Metro Information

There is more information on my Athens Metro page and my Athens Coastal Tram page. There are more maps including restaurants and hotels on my Athens Maps page. You can buy your ticket or many tickets at any station. The ticket-tellers generally speak English. When you buy your ticket you get it validated when you walk through the turnstyles. Don't get caught on the metro without a validated ticket. You won't go to jail but you will have to pay a fine which will be about 60 times the value of the ticket. You can take the M3 from the airport to Syntagma Square or Monastiraki but if you arrive after 11pm the metro probably won't be running and you will have to take the X95 bus to Syntagma which depending on where you are staying may not be all that convenient to your hotel. You can also book a taxi transfer with George the Famous Taxi Driver.
