Ancient Pathos at Topos Allou Theater

Theatre performance based on Greek ancient tragedy in the English Language
An original work of artistic importance full of strength, history and culture

Every Sunday 8.30 pm at Topos Allou Theatre

Ruins of Passion

A performance based on the House of Atrides in Ancient Greek Tragedy.
From Iphigenia's sacrifice and Agamemnon's murder, to Clytemnestra's doom and the trial of Orestes in the court of Areios Pagos. The performance is not a classic tragedy as we know it but a compilation of many scenes from well-known tragedies by Aeschylus, Sophocles & Euripides, revolving around the heroes of the house of Atrides such as Clytemnestra, Electra, Iphigenia, Orestes, e.t.c.
The performance is filled with action and conflict.
It will combine modern elements and it shall bring the characters close to today's world and the modern day spectator. The acting will be accompanied by video projections and music.
The ancient and the traditional will coexist with the contemporary elements making this a unique theatrical experience.
Tthe audience will be witness of the most characteristic scenes, relations, conflicts of the protagonists in Greek Tragedy.

It is reasonable for you to wonder about the language and how the play would be perceived by a foreigner. Our experience in that matter is vast, as we have taken part in multi-language festivals many times in the past. Thus, during the show actors will perform in English all the time. The audience will be given a lengthy programme in three languages (English, French and German) and will have no problem  language-wise. More over that the myths are well known.  The actors are off course professionals, as are all our other colleagues (stage and costume designers, musicians, make up artists, prop makers).

The performance will last for about one hour. The ticket costs  20 €per-person.
